Year 2024 is indeed the year to celebrate ‘JOY’ and to be grateful & thankful to the almighty, as the school commemorates its 100 years journey in excellence in education. Ms. Helen Jeer wood was the founding Principal of St.Thomas’ School, Shimla from 1924-1938. She was a self-supporting missionary who envisaged and wanted women in India to be educated and thus St.Thomas’ School was established as a Girls school and as per the needs of the community it subsequently opened its doors as a co – educational institution in 1992.
Every School has two functions, conservative and radical. It has to be backward looking and forward looking. It has to conserve the past as a foundation; we at St.Thomas’ School have never been content to allow our students to remain satisfied, that the foundation is enough. We have been striving, and shall continue to strive to send forth our students into the world. The foundation we have laid have not only helped to identify their strength but also overcome their weaknesses so that they can venture forth into this competitive and demanding world with the strength of knowledge and of their abilities and become constructive and useful members not only to the society but also to their families and themselves.
From a handful of students as a small church school in 1912 in pre independence days, and till date countless students have gone through the portals of the school and many have attained eminent and illustrious and successful careers in their lives. It is indeed a proud moment for the staff, for those who imparted their teaching skills and making their alumni attain their goals.
House of Learning,
A Place of Worship
We continue to grow and make this house of learning, a place of worship where not only students and teachers will look on to their place of learning but also parents and all who look forward in joining us.
